Contact-M Position Measurement

Directly Measure and Monitor Mechanical Parameters

The integrated position-measuring system records the movement of the welding stud . When used in conjunction with a compatible CDP-M power unit, the relevant values are displayed on the screen . Process reliability can be further enhanced with the optional electrical process control system.

Bolt Overhang Check the starting position of the weld joint.
Lift Height Measurement of the mechanical travel distance.
Plunging Depth Control of movement toward the workpiece.
Speed Measurement of piston speed during the process.

Welding Processes

Spark Ignition in the Contact Method

The Contact-M is designed for capacitor-discharge stud welding using the contact method. In this process, the welding stud is placed on the workpiece with its ignition tip before triggering.

A Quick Process for Thin Sheets

When the trigger is pulled, the energy stored in the capacitors is released. The ignition tip melts and creates an electric arc. The end of the bolt and the surface of the workpiece are melted, and then the bolt is guided into the molten pool by spring pressure.

01

Positioning

The welding stud is secured in the stud holder and positioned on the workpiece with its ignition tip.

02

Ignite an electric arc

The energy stored in the capacitor is released. The electrode tip melts, and an electric arc is formed.

03

Dip the bolts

The spring pressure pushes the bolt into the molten metal. The bolt and the base material solidify into a single unit.
