CONTACT OR CONTACT-M?

Capacitor discharge welding using the contact method
A short process for thin sheets
When the weld is triggered, the energy stored in the capacitors is released. The ignition tip melts and generates an arc. The stud end and workpiece surface melt, after which spring pressure drives the stud into the weld pool.
More about stud welding processesPosition the stud
The welding stud is held in the stud chuck and positioned on the workpiece with its ignition tip.
Ignite the arc
The capacitor energy is released. The ignition tip melts and an arc forms.
Plunge the stud
Spring pressure drives the stud into the weld pool. The stud and base material solidify to form a joint.

about CONTACT
What is the difference between CONTACT and CONTACT-M?
CONTACT does not have an integrated displacement measuring system. CONTACT-M also records the mechanical welding parameters and enables them to be displayed on a compatible power unit.
Which welding process does CONTACT use?
The CONTACT is designed for capacitor discharge stud welding with tip ignition using the contact method.
Which stud sizes can be welded?
The stated welding range is M3 to M10, with a maximum welding diameter of Ø 11 mm. The permissible configuration also depends on the material and welding task.
Which materials is CONTACT designed for?
According to the product overview, the CONTACT is designed for unalloyed and alloyed steels.
Which units is CONTACT compatible with?
The CONTACT can be operated with CDP-66M, CDP-99M and CDP-133M power units. The final choice depends on the stud diameter, material and required system features.
Which accessories are available?
The range includes stud chucks, feet, foot rings, positioning tubes, centring solutions, extensions and components for special welding elements and component geometries.
For different components and welding positions
Different stud chucks, feet, positioning tubes and centring solutions are available for CONTACT and CONTACT-M. These allow the gun to be adapted to different stud types, bends, templates and customer-specific applications.
- Stud chucks and collets
- Feet and foot rings
- Positioning and centring tubes
- Stud chuck extensions
- Sound insulation tubes
- Application-specific custom solutions
