WELDING PROCESS

Capacitor discharge welding using the contact method

The Contact-M is designed for capacitor discharge stud welding using the contact method. Before triggering the weld, the stud is placed on the workpiece with its ignition tip in contact with the surface.

A short process for thin sheets

When the weld is triggered, the energy stored in the capacitors is released. The ignition tip melts and generates an arc. The stud end and workpiece surface melt, after which spring pressure drives the stud into the weld pool.

More about stud welding processes

Position the stud

The welding stud is held in the stud chuck and positioned on the workpiece with its ignition tip.

Ignite the arc

The capacitor energy is released. The ignition tip melts and an arc forms.

Plunge the stud

Spring pressure drives the stud into the weld pool. The stud and base material solidify to form a joint.

PRECISE AND RELIABLE
