Frequently asked questions
about FL 6,3 tab connectors
What does FL 6,3 mean?
FL 6,3 denotes the single earth tab connector with a 6.3 mm tab width. Further dimensions and tolerances are specified in the manufacturer’s dimensional sheet.
Which materials are available?
The manufacturer’s dimensional sheet lists copper-plated steel 4.8, stainless steel A2-50, brass CuZn37 and aluminium AlMg3. Other materials are possible by agreement.
What is the function of the ignition tip?
The ignition tip on the welding base initiates the welding process and melts during it. The angled geometry and welding base remain intact.
What changes during welding?
The ignition tip melts and the welding base is joined to the workpiece. The original drawing shows the states before and after welding. The FL dimensional sheet does not specify a general reduction in length during welding.
What should be considered when selecting the connector?
The connector, material, base material, installation space and welding task must be compatible. Suitability for the specific electrical and mechanical application must be checked against its requirements.
Are ceramic ferrules required?
FL 6,3 is processed using capacitor discharge welding. RF ceramic ferrules are not used with this process.
Which equipment is suitable for FL 6,3?
The manufacturer’s page lists CONTACT-M, CDP-99M and the RAPIDOR QF automatic welding head as examples. A suitable holder, process and parameters are selected for the component and material.
Are special versions available?
Other materials and special versions are possible by agreement. Please send the required geometry, material, quantity and application requirements.
